Artificial Christmas Tree Warning

This year we decided that we were going to do the earth-friendly thing and buy a fake Christmas tree. I've always been a die-hard fan of live Christmas trees, but my guilt has been getting to me.

So Michael brought home a fake tree tonight and discovered that it says on the box to wash your hands thoroughly after handling the tree because of lead in the plastic of the tree! I found this info online: http://www.christmastree.org/faketrees.cfm and http://www.checnet.org/healthehouse/education/articles-detail.asp?Main_ID=700.

Our tree is going back and we're going to get a live tree.

ok. so i'm offocially freaked out now, lol. this will be our last yr using a fake tree. in fact, this is only the 2nd year we've used it...thank goodness no kids last year & sydney is too young this year to grab it and eat it...lol.

we're going to a live tree next year...it's a safe and still environmentally friendly solution i think...
