Three years into the elf, and I can't say anything more than it's a complete annoyance to me. And, I forget to move the thing around. And, since I don't have good places to put it, the elf sits on top of the frames of three pieces of artwork around the house, and occasionally on a sconce in the front hall. My motto is that if I can't "decorate" for a holiday in 30 minutes or less, I don't do it.Teafortwohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07983497572578153064noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2557928558578780512.post-77739437522597487862009-12-18T15:58:50.405-08:002009-12-18T15:58:50.405-08:00This is it- the fine balance between doing all thi...This is it- the fine balance between doing all this extra work and trying to somehow enjoy it.
There have been years when I was on a brink of loosing my mind before Christmas. It made me sick to my stomach and resentful.
So I decided that I will get the shopping over with early as quickly as possible.
When I am done shopping, I can exhale.
I don't wrap- each kid gets that JUMBO bag filled with their stuff. With 9 kids, those bags fill up the living room.
I used to spend 4 hours wrapping-it's insanity!!
I am also making a bunch of food that is easy to reheat on Christmas.
As far as baking- nothing wrong with the delicious bakery stuff.

Hugs!!ashamomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02075280245811289099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2557928558578780512.post-276898805315251832009-12-18T12:35:22.541-08:002009-12-18T12:35:22.541-08:00Dude, MILK THAT SANTA THING! seriously. I was babysitting after Christmas two years ago, and this four year old grabs his brother, puts him in a chokehold and looks up at me and says "Molly? Does santa see me all year round"

I said "Yep!" and he promptly let go. heh.Mollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15881590483174001768noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2557928558578780512.post-65914592246020410452009-12-18T12:08:41.108-08:002009-12-18T12:08:41.108-08:00I'm sorry the holidays are so hard on you, Lis...I'm sorry the holidays are so hard on you, Lisa. Unfortunately, I'm one of those annoying people who loves this time of year. I even have to admit to loving the frantic stress of it all. And I will always believe in magic- especially at this time of year. Granted, I'm faith based. But I've witnessed too many powerful good things this year, this season, from people of a variety of faiths and backgrounds, to not continue to be in awe of what the season is capable of.

Teagan has been asking for an Elf on the Shelf. I haven't decided how I feel about the whole idea yet...Eternal Lizdomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12436844959718198383noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2557928558578780512.post-26222595962903215552009-12-18T11:58:01.782-08:002009-12-18T11:58:01.782-08:00Truly laughing out loud AGAIN!!! I try to do lots of fun things for the kids to make it as magical in their childhood memories as possible but most of our activities end (and sometimes begin) with me screaming at the top of my lungs at my 3 oldest who can't seem to sit together in a car for 30 seconds without killing each other. And you forgot to mention that is also magical for the hubs. At least mine. He only needs to shop for me. I on the other hand, have to shop for teachers, neighors, 6 kids, cousins, my parents and his parents. It is overwhelming and stressful. I've never even tried the baking thing so don't start putting that guilt on me! :) Merry Christmas (or holidays) to you and your family. I am very grateful to the blogging world that made it possible for me to get to know you!!!heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01061626477737855499noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2557928558578780512.post-38703148446273498792009-12-18T11:57:23.330-08:002009-12-18T11:57:23.330-08:00I love that you called Santa!
